Opening 3MF and STL files in your slicer
Heppio prepares the file for the slicer you choose. When you open it, the size in millimeters is kept and each color comes in as a separate part.
Which file should I download?
- Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and their variants (Creality Print, ElegooSlicer, Anycubic Slicer Next, QIDI Studio, Orca-Flashforge, Snapmaker Orca): 3MF. Parts per color and filament numbers come ready.
- PrusaSlicer: the 3MF made for PrusaSlicer. The model is one object with the colors as parts.
- Cura: 3MF (parts grouped) or STL.
- Resin slicers (Chitubox, Lychee) and others: STL.
When you pick your printer and slicer in the app's "Printer" section, the right download button is highlighted.
By slicer
Bambu Studio / OrcaSlicer and variants
Drag the 3MF in or use File → Import. A notice like "geometry only" is normal: your printer and filament settings are kept. Each color comes in as a separate part with its filament number assigned; match your AMS slots to the color list.
PrusaSlicer
Open the 3MF: the model is one object with each color as a part and its extruder assigned. Slice directly on an MMU3 or XL; for color changes on a single nozzle, see the single-nozzle guide.
Cura
Cura opens the 3MF parts grouped. On a multi-extruder printer, select a part and assign an extruder from the left menu. If you downloaded STL per color (ZIP), open the files together, select them all and merge with Ctrl+Alt+G.
Resin (Chitubox, Lychee)
Open the STL and add supports. Resin printers print in a single color; print colored parts separately or paint them.
STL ZIP: one file per color
If you choose STL for a multicolor model, you get one file per color (1_…, 2_… where the number is the filament order). Open them all at once in your slicer and merge them into one object; the parts are already in place, no realignment needed.
